In high season (July-August) renting a beach umbrella with two sun loungers for the whole day costs around €25-30, while in less crowded periods such as June or September it can drop to €15-20. Considering the beauty of the place and the comforts included, these are fair prices.
Even the drinks at the bar or restaurant of the lido do not reserve any unpleasant surprises. The prices are in line with those of other places in the area: you can enjoy a stuffed sandwich or a fresh salad for lunch at a modest cost, or treat yourself to a fish dish of the day at the restaurant at an affordable price. Where is the Lido Playa del Sol Ugento and how to get there?
The Lido Playa del Sol Ugento is located on the Ionian coast of Salento, in the locality of Torre Mozza, in the municipality of Ugento (province of Lecce).
We are in the south-western part of Puglia, between Gallipoli and Santa Maria di Leuca: in fact, Torre Mozza is about 30 km south of Gallipoli and just over 30 km north of Leuca. The beach on which the lido stands is part of a long sandy coastline that connects the various marinas of Ugento and offers enchanting marine scenery.
By car, reaching Playa del Sol in Ugento is easy. From Lecce (about 70 km further north) take the highway to Gallipoli (SS101) and then continue towards Leuca on the SS274. Exiting at the junction for Ugento/Torre San Giovanni, follow the signs for Torre Mozza. The beach is located along the coastal road of Torre Mozza (Via Giovanni Battista Tiepolo), a few steps from the beach and well signposted. You can park your car conveniently in the immediate vicinity of the establishment.
If you travel by public transport, know that in summer the area is served by connections dedicated to tourists. From the capital Lecce, the Salento In Bus service departs, a network of summer buses that connect Lecce and Gallipoli to the marinas of Ugento and Santa Maria di Leuca, also stopping at Torre Mozza (near the coastal tower). Furthermore, from the center of Ugento, local shuttles depart for Torre Mozza. Even without a car, therefore, you can easily reach the beach and enjoy the sea in total freedom.
Activities around Playa del Sol Ugento
The surroundings of Playa del Sol Ugento offer many activities and places to discover. The nearby town of Ugento has a beautiful historic center of stone streets, an ancient castle and a baroque cathedral. Around the coast of Torre Mozza, there is the Ugento Coast Natural Park, a protected area of sand dunes and coastal pine forests: if you love nature, you can follow paths through the Mediterranean scrub and reach panoramic points overlooking the sea.
About half an hour’s drive north is Gallipoli, the “beautiful city” of the Ionian Sea. The lively seaside town has a characteristic historic center perched on an island. You can walk along its panoramic walls and visit the majestic Angevin castle that guards the entrance to the village. Gallipoli is also famous for its nightlife: after your day at the beach you can dine in a small restaurant or sip a drink in a lounge bar on the port, while the city comes alive with music and lights.
Continuing about 40 km south of Torre Mozza you reach Santa Maria di Leuca, the extreme tip of Salento. In Leuca we recommend you visit the Sanctuary of Santa Maria de Finibus Terrae, next to the imposing white lighthouse. Don’t miss a boat trip along the coast to explore the sea caves, with the possibility of diving into the crystal clear waters to discover the numerous hidden coves.
