Where is Lido Roccia Castro and how to get there?

Lido Roccia Castro is located in Castro Marina, the coastal part of the village of the same name in the province of Lecce. The location is more or less halfway between Otranto and Santa Maria di Leuca and runs along a portion of territory of extraordinary beauty.

Getting to Lido Roccia Castro is simple. If you travel by car, it will take you about half an hour from Lecce: follow the signs for Maglie, then for Castro and from there go down towards Castro Marina. The SP 358 coastal road is panoramic: driving here is already a taste of vacation, with the blue sea peeking out between the olive trees along the way. 

If you prefer public transport, in summer the area is served by the Salento in Bus line that connects the main coastal towns. 

If you travel by car, there are several car parks available a few hundred metres from the beach, but remember to pay the ticket. Rates are around €1.50 per hour but it is usually possible to pay a daily ticket and save a little.

The surroundings of Castro are perfect for enriching your day or planning an entire vacation and you can’t miss a visit to the historic village of Castro: going up from the marina to the upper town you enter a maze of white stone streets, enclosed by mighty medieval walls. We recommend you take a walk between the castle and the cathedral at sunset, looking out from the ramparts overlooking the sea and catching unforgettable views.

Near the lido itself, one of the unmissable places is the Grotta Zinzulusa, one of the most fascinating in all of Puglia. You can reach it by boat with organized excursions that leave from the port of Castro Marina or by land via a panoramic path along the coast. The visit to the cave, with its formations of stalactites and stalagmites that resemble hanging rags (“zinzuli” in dialect) is a suggestive experience, especially in the hottest hours when taking refuge in the cool cave is a relief. Many visitors combine the morning at the lido with a visit to the cave in the afternoon, or vice versa.

If you love water sports, there are diving centers nearby that organize dives to explore the rich seabed. Even a simple swim with mask and snorkel near Lido Roccia can reserve some surprises.
