The Ruffano Museum of Rural Civilization was founded in 2002 with the aim of preserving and transmitting the roots of a world that, unfortunately, is slowly disappearing. Founded by local history enthusiasts, the museum occupies the ground floor of the eighteenth-century Palazzo Pasanisi di Torrepaduli and is the result of a long work of research and recovery of material and immaterial testimonies.
Its 10 rooms are a journey through time that starts from the first traces of agricultural life and extends to the present day, allowing us to understand how the agricultural tradition has intertwined with the social and economic history of Salento.
Inside you can breathe the true atmosphere of Salento and over the years, the museum has become not only a point of reference for locals, but also an essential stop for tourists who want to discover a different and deeper aspect of this land.

Prices and opening hours of the Ruffano Museum of Rural Civilization
The Ruffano Museum of Rural Civilization is open to the public on the following days: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, with opening hours from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 17:00 to 20:00. Please note that entry is permitted up to 30 minutes before closing time.
The museum is closed on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. As for prices, the standard entrance fee is €1.00, while it is €2.00 if you want a guided tour, available for groups of at least 5 people.
Entrance is free for children under 6, people with disabilities accompanied by a family member or another companion from social-health services, tour guides accompanying groups and tourist interpreters accompanying groups.
