Today they represent a geological and archaeological heritage of great value, since within them <strong>numerous artefacts have been found<\/strong> which testify to the presence of man in remote times.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The caves were used not only as shelter, but also as places of exchange and landing place. Inhabited since the Paleolithic<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, their strategic position along the coast made them ideal for observing the arrival of boats, an aspect that connects them to the long maritime tradition of Salento. Walking along the Sentiero delle Cipolliane you will almost feel like you can hear the echo of these past stories, a dialogue between man and nature that continues today.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <strong>best time to walk the Sentiero delle Cipolliane is from March to June and from September to November<\/strong>, when temperatures are milder and nature explodes with colours. It is advisable to start the route early in the morning or late afternoon and avoid the hottest hours, especially in summer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Along the way it is not uncommon to come across wild plants, insects and birds from distant countries. To reach it by car, you can follow the SS275 towards Santa Maria di Leuca and then continue towards Ponte Ciolo.
