The <\/span>historic center of Ostuni<\/b> is a labyrinth of cobbled streets, arches and climbs that lead to breathtaking views. The predominant feature is white, which illuminates every facade, every corner, in a harmony that seems to have been sculpted by the sun itself.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ostuni is an ancient city and its medieval core has Norman and Swabian origins. Walking through its streets you will notice how the city has been able to combine Arab, Byzantine and Romanesque influences in a unique architectural synthesis.<\/span><\/p>\n

The choice to make the houses all the same color is easily explained: since the Middle Ages <\/span>lime was an easily available material<\/b>, it gave light to the streets and, above all, it was used as an antiseptic and sanitizer, a way to protect oneself from the epidemics and plague that raged in Puglia.<\/span><\/p>\n
